At Coalescence Health we believe we all deserve healing from the challenges of this life. We commit to caring for ourselves and each other in this journey and enjoy the opportunity to collaborate with various professionals and support each other in our professional growth.

Please take a moment and get to know one of our newer amazing therapists here at Coalescence Health, Hanna Bingham, MA, LPCC, NCC, CPT.

What led you to become a therapist?

Working in non-profit spaces of advocacy for over a decade, I often saw how difficult it was to bridge ideological divides—especially when there was a lack of self-awareness or healing taking place within those doing the important work of advocacy and care. But I also saw something powerful in those spaces: people who were grounded, self-aware, and on a path of growth could truly and deeply listen, empathize, and connect more deeply with others, even across major differences and fundamental disagreements. This observation led me to want to be someone who is always growing, and to be a part of the growth and healing journeys of others as well. Eventually, that led me to become a therapist.

I think that healing on an individual level has a ripple effect—it transforms us, our relationships, our communities, and the world. I'm also someone who has always been deeply drawn to stories. Whether it's through reading, writing, listening to the stories of others, or living out my own, I believe stories have the power to heal, to shape, and to reveal who we are. That love led me to narrative therapy as my primary modality, where story is a tool for transforming the way we carry our pain, see ourselves, and engage with the world.

What has influenced your work as such?

My own time in therapy (as a client) has been incredibly formative. It’s shaped how I see the world, how I show up for others, and how I now practice as a therapist. It has deepened—and continues to deepen—my desire to be an ally, an advocate, and someone who walks alongside others with compassion and curiosity.

My work is also continually influenced by my love of storytelling and writing. Our lives are made up of stories—stories we tell about ourselves, stories others (or our culture/community) tell about us, and how those stories have shaped and continue to shape us. Therapy can be a space of reclamation where those stories are truly heard, deeply honored, and reshaped when they are harming or not serving us well. Relationship is at the center of this work of story for me, and I see every session as an invitation into meaningful, healing connection.

What are some fun facts about yourself?

To no one’s surprise, based on my love of narrative therapy, I'm a writer and a reader at heart. I also love hiking mountains, kayaking, and running—basically anything that lets me be outside, breathe deeply, be with my community, and know that I am somehow a connected part of this big, beautiful world of ours.

I have a thriving plant family in my home (all named, of course), and I like to imagine that their quiet lives of growth continue to teach me simple truths about life, what it is to be alive, and how it’s okay to be vulnerable and accept help from others in the process of growing.

Tea and cozy spaces make me feel at home, but I also love a good beer or whiskey with friends, long conversations, game nights, and making time for laughter and celebration.

Joy, connection, and playfulness are vital to me—not just in my life, but in the therapeutic space too.

If you weren't a therapist, what job would you have?

If I weren’t a therapist, I’d be an author and activist. I’d be using writing as a tool for justice, storytelling as a means of connection, and working in solidarity with those who are most marginalized and oppressed by the systemic injustices of our culture and world.

I believe in the power of words to ignite change, and in the importance of showing up for ourselves and for one another in the world, and this will always shape my work no matter what I’m doing.
